The Fourth of July is a true American holiday with a multitude of traditional ways to celebrate. For this year's backyard BBQ, wow your guests with these unique and fun holiday themed dishes that is sure to make this get together the talk of many years to come!
Start things off with an eye catching cocktail. This red, white, and blue drink is sure to get raving attention from your guests.
~Pour 1-2 Tablespoons of Grenadine into the bottom of a clear glass.
~Fill glass with ice.
~Gently pour in 7-up or Ginger ale.
~Top with frozen blue berries.
*For an alcoholic version, add clear Rum.
Settle those appetites with these tasty Star-Baby Beer Burgers
3lbs of ground beef
1/2 a cup of beer
1/4 cup of steak sauce
A few sprigs of Parsley leaves
Cooking spray or 1 tbsp of oil
Burger toppings (such as tomatoes, cheese, sauce...)
~Mix the beer, steak sauce, and Parsley then knead into the hamburger meat with your hands.
~Spray your regular sized star cookie cutter with cooking spray or rub down with oil.
~Fill cookie cutter with meat and gently push the meat out starting at the tips of the star.
~Grill on both sides for 1-3 minutes till no longer pink in the middle.
~Garnish with cheese and sauces as desired and serve on a warm bun
Let them enjoy this easy and unique American potato salad as a fun side dish.
8-10 Red potatoes
1 part Mayonnaise
1 part sour cream
Fresh or dried Thyme flakes
Blue food coloring
4-5 slices of bacon (or bacon bits)
Bay leaves (optional)
~Boil potatoes (with Bay leaves if desired, remove after boil) 10-15 minutes until tender. Let cool enough to dice into quarters. Put on serving dish and sprinkle with some of the Thyme.
~In another dish, stir in equal amounts of Mayonnaise and sour cream. Add a few drops of the blue food coloring and mix till you find a light and bright tint of blue. Add Thyme to taste.
~Cook bacon and cut into small pieces (or just use bacon bits).
*Guests can assemble their potatoes buffet style with potatoes on the bottom, cream in the middle, and bacon as a finishing garnish.
For the sweet finish, a cake decorated as the American flag!
One (1) box or yellow cake mix (and it's needed ingredients)
One (1) 16 ounce tub of white vanilla frosting
A pint of blueberries
1 lb tub of strawberries
~Using a 13 x 9 inch cake pan, make a standard yellow cake. Don't worry about removing it from the pan, the flag looks just as good in it. Let it cool.
~While the cake is cooling, cut the strawberries in slices lengthwise.
~When cake is ready, frost the top with the white icing leaving enough left over to pipe the starts of you flag later.
~In the upper left hand corner, place the blueberries in rows to create the blue part of your flag.
~Lay strawberries in rows with plenty of space between for alternate red and white stripes across the cake. Make sure that the top row and bottom row have strawberries to be as authentic as possible.
~Pipe some dots on your blue berries for stars and your done!
